Nat’l Cherry Blossom Festival Mar 20- Apr 27, 2012
In 1912, 3,000 cherry trees were given to the City of Washington, DC from Japan Mayor Yukio Ozaki. This year celebrates the centennial of 100 years commemorating this friendship between the United States and Japan. Today more than one million people visit this treasure witnessing spring in full bloom.
As the 1st day of spring is officially upon us, I am lucky to witness early cherry blossom blooms at our farm due to the unseasonably warm weather in the northeast. Design inspiration today comes from the cherry blossom. Claire Pettibone’s glam design of silver and gold gossamer embroidered on her bridal gown sheath complete with a scattering of crystals, “Hope for Japan Pink Cherry Blossom” hand crafted silk satin and paper Cherry Blossom Bridal Bouquet, our Spring Blossom Couture Cake Stand all are harkening in the 1st day of Spring, celebrating new love, new design, and new inspiration!
